Leaf rubbing

Blog by: Melissa Furio

Hello Mom’s! Hope the Fall is treating you well. As the weather gets cooler, and you find yourself stuck inside, try this engaging activity for your children. As a former teacher, “Leaf rubbing” was a big hit in the classroom. Spend five minutes outside, and collect different types of leaves. Encourage your children to find different shapes and colors. Then let your child choose three leaves to rub. Place the leaves behind white thin printer paper, and tape. Then take different colored crayons and rub on top of the paper to reveal the leaves! If you have square crayons, these work the best. Discuss how each leaf has different textures and patterns.  This is a joy for children as they discover not only their creativity, but the beauty of nature. Melissa
